Shannon McKelvie and Vintage Rock N Roll
2011 Derby Success

Shannon McKelvie and her good gelding Vintage Rock N Roll are a great team. This is Shannon's first year reining, and she's made it a memorable one. Shannon has plenty of show experience. She has been a top level competitor in Hunter/Jumper events for years.

In the fall of 2010 Shannon decided she would like to try reining. Going to the 2010 NRHA Futurity and North American Affiliate Championship and watching the incredible performances sealed the deal. She had to have a reiner.

Shannon purchased Vintage Rock N Roll at the beginning of 2011. He is a 2006 gelding by A Sparkling Vintage and out of Colonel Minnie. They started their show career together this spring and they haven't looked back. Among many other accolades, Shannon and "Rock" were Level 4 Derby Champions at the CPRHA Great Plains Derby in Lincoln, NE. At the Sagebrush Slide Derby in Pueblo, CO they were Level 2 and Level 1 Reserve Champions and placed 3^rd in the Level 4 category. Shannon and "Rock" have also won several Youth 14 - 18 classes and are NRHA North American Affiliate Championship Qualifiers.  They are also the RMRHA Youth 14 - 18 Year End Champions.

"I love my horse" says Shannon. "I'm so thankful for the coaching and help that Devin has given me. He's a great coach and trainer and I appreciate what he has done for Rock and I."  Watch for Shannon and "Rock" in the Adequan North American Affiliate Championships in Oklahoma City and in upcoming Youth and Derby classes.

Champions
Smart Zippin Freckles and Devin Warren

It's good to start your horses off right, and Smart Zippin Freckles has had just that right start. She is a 3 year old mare by Color Me Smart and out of Miss Zippin Freckles. Owned by Paynters Paint Ranch of Sedalia, CO, this nice mare has already had much success in the show pen. She's got very stylish stops with fancy footwork and lots of eye appeal. 

Smart Zippin Freckles and Devin bested the rest of the field at the   Colorado State Fair Futurity.  They swept the field, coming out Champions in the Level 4 and Level 2 categories.   They were also 3 Year Old Champions at the Sagebrush Slide held in Pueblo, CO the end of August. 

Watch for this team at the APHA World Show Futurity in November.

2011 NRHA Derby Finalists

GF Very Smart Gold

The 2011 NRHA Derby was held June 27 - July 2 at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City, OK. This event draws the industry's top horses and riders from around the world. Devin showed GF Very Smart Gold to a score of 218 in the 1^st go of the Derby. This score put him among those riders given the right to ride in the Level 3, Level 2, and Level 1 Derby Finals. GF Very Smart Gold is a 2006 gelding by Very Smart Remedy and out of Clips Golden Girl. He is owned by Garth Hystad of Colorado Springs, CO.

APHA Youth 13 & Under Reining World Title

The APHA Youth World Championship Show was held June 24 - July 2 at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, TX. This is a very competitive event, and the contestants come prepared to show. This year was no different.

Congratulations go to defending Youth 13 & Under Champions Rylee Justus and Diamond Gun.

When Rylee was asked about her championship ride she replied "I just went in there to do the best that I could. I got it again, and I’m just really thankful that I can do it two years in a row."

When asked if there was anyone she would like to thank her reply was "Devin. I really want to thank him for coming down here. Like I said before, he didn’t have to be here––he has a huge show of his own tomorrow morning. He made the finals at the Derby of the Level 3 and he has to show in the morning. I want to thank him, my parents, Jolene [Warren] and Alyece [Norgren]."

NWSS $15,000 Dodge Invitational Freestyle Champions

The horse/rider teams competing in the $15,000 Dodge Invitational Freestyle really put on a great show.  Despite the dismal weather conditions outside, the crowd was heating up the National Western Events Center with their response to the show. Congratulations to all those competing in the 2011 event.  Devin and Bright Lil Gun took top honors in this group of elite freestyle competitors.  Bright Lil Gun (Jessie) is owned by RMJ Ranch of Larkspur, CO.  She is a 2004 mare by Colonels Lil Gun and out of Miss Bright Doc.  They performed to "I Can Only Imagine" by Mercy Me, and brought the house down with the response to this performance.  Thanks to all for your support and encouragement - with your help, we "can only imagine" the possibilities!

Gallant Invitation

Congratulations to Gallant Invitation for a very successful 2010 show season.  He was 2010 RMPHA Jr Hunter Under Saddle Champion with WPH Assistant Trainer Alyece Norgren in the pilot seat.

This nice horse had a great 2011 NWSS Paint Show as well.  He was Reserve Champion in  Jr Trail with Alyece riding.

Starlights Storm Open and Limited Open Futurity Champions with a 148.5!

WARREN PERFORMANCE HORSES SUCCESS AT 2010 APHA SUMMER WORLD SHOW

The temperatures were hot at the 2010 APHA World Show, held June 23 through July 3 at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth Texas.  The temperatures weren't the only thing heating up Fort Worth - this years competition was hot. 

Rylee Justus Wins APHA World Youth Reining 13 & Under Title - Rylee made her first trip to the APHA World Show a memorable one.  She rode Diamond Gun to top the class, earning her first world title.  Congratulations Rylee, and look for great things from this talented young lady!

Bright Lil Gun Reserve Champion in Senior Reining - Bright Lil Gun was sizzlin' hot in the Senior Reining.  In a class of talented competition, Devin piloted this great mare  to a Reserve Championship.  Bright Lil Gun is owned by RMJ Ranch of Larkspur, CO.   She is by Lil Gun and out of Miss Bright Doc.

Little Gun Olena takes 3^rd in Junior Reining - The competition continued to be hot in Junior Reining, where Little Gun Olena earned 3^rd place honors. This good mare is owned by Susie Craig of Elbert, CO. She is sired by Smokin Chic Olena and out of Gunner Hold Your Fire.
